Karen L Riley BSc, PDCHyp, D.Hyp, HBCE, HFT, MBSCH, M FETT is an experienced and registered clinical hypnotherapist. She holds a Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis, a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis, a Practitioners Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and she is a trained Hypnobirthing and Hypnofertility practitioner. Her academic background was in Applied Biology and she spent several years working in the pharmaceutical industry as a Rep, Coach and Mentor. It was a natural progression for her to look at how our minds and bodies are connected and how this can impact on our health, emotions and behaviour. Karen's fascination with hypnotherapy started while she was at university in Liverpool and she had a very beneficial personal experience of how hypnotherapy can help us improve our lives.
Since leaving university in 1996 Karen has undertaken further studies with the Northern School of Hypnotherapy, the London College of Clinical Hypnosis and the University of Greenwich and she is now a member of the Northern Association of Professional Clinical Hypnotherapists, a Full member British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Researcher Network and the infertility network UK (Hypnobirthing and Hypnofertility Yorkshire is part of Karen Riley Hypnotherapy).
Karen's busy full time hypnotherapy practice is based at the Astwood Clinic in Huddersfield where both private and NHS patients are welcome. Karen sees many other patients in the comfort of their own homes across the Yorkshire region. Karen holds Hypnobirthing classes, stress management courses and self hypnosis classes across the Yorkshire region and she works with couples with fertility issues across the North of England. During her clinical work Karen uses many Psychotherapeutic and Hypnotherapeutic techniques as well as interventions such as E.M.D.R (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing), EFT (emotional freedom technique) and Ego state therapy.
