Counselling & Psychotherapy
Jay Beichman MA (Couns), PGDipCouns, Institute of Group Analysis Certificate, AREBT, ITA, BACP (Accredited), M FETT is a well trained integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. He originally became interested in counselling when he was a client himself and after he had resolved his own issues, decided to train as a counsellor (studying at the University of Brighton). Jay has been in practice since 1997 and over the years has gained a broad experience of counselling (including voluntary work with the Brighton and Hove Federation of Disabled People and Cruse as a bereavement counsellor and counselling trainer). He has helped to organize seminars and edited their journal Sussex Counselling News. Jay's Continuing Professional Development studies have covered a broad area and have included gaining the Transactional Analysis '101', a Primary Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and specialist training in Primary Care Counselling (with the Tavistock).
Jay shares a counselling space with a colleague and they see clients with all kinds of issues and also clients from CareFirst, an EAP who provide counselling for the NHS amongst others. Jay also worked for many years as a project worker for Brighton Housing Trust and he has a specialist interest in this area, sometimes working with people who have been psychiatrically 'diagnosed' but wish to explore their issues more holistically. Jay also likes to help clients overcome issues in relation to bereavement, careers, relationship and personal issues, mental health, disability and in general personal healing and growth. Jay's fees are £36 per session.
